Our fund is growing! In addition to the funds raised here on this site we've received $1,555.00 in donations in the mail. That's a total of more than $4,500! Your voices have been heard!
The enormous outpouring of support over the past several days is an amazing testament to your passion for keeping our doors open, and to the Center's vitality in this community. Your incredible impact on the "Save the Center" campaign is no doubt the reason why City Council has taken a sharp turn and decided to rethink harsh cuts that could possibly have forced the Center to close its doors. While the Council seems to now be in favor of keeping the Center doors open, due to budget constraints they are forced to continue considering cuts to various City services. These cuts could include reducing support to the Center by at least $350,000 in 2010/2011. In an effort to be a part of the solution by bridging this gap and further stabilizing the Center financially for years to come, we are making a special request to you, our invaluable supporters. Join us in our $15 for 15 years campaign. We're asking everyone who loves and supports the Center to contribute one dollar for every year the Center has contributed to its community. $15 for 15 years. If we meet our goal of $350,000 we can all look forward to another amazing year offering the community the same level of quality service, performances, exhibitions, programs and events. In addition to this grassroots campaign, Center staff will be working hard to secure additional gifts, funding and grant opportunities. We continue to work towards becoming less reliant on City funding, and every penny we collect brings us one step closer to that goal. We will share developments with you as further updates become available. Your unwavering support, while we knew it was always there, has been astounding and inspirational to every member of our staff. Thanks to your voices, we believe the Center will be saved. And thanks to your donations, we will begin to close this gap and show our City what the Center and our supporters are truly capable of. We look forward to experiencing once again the powerful voice of support that lies just beneath the surface of this City and beyond. Together we can make a difference. |
